We had a breeding pair of Mud Larks, also known as PeeWee’s, in our backyard. They became very tame, and were always sitting on the swimming pool fence outside the backdoor, kicking up a racket if anyone or anything ventured into their territory.
Unfortunately, in recent years (2024-2025) these amazing birds, alongside magpies, ravens, currawongs and butcher birds, are all susceptible to avian botulism, which is caused by a toxin produced by Clostridium botulinum bacteria. Please research and if you can, donate to this critical cause.
